PAUL MATUS SUPPLIES THIS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND CORRECTIONS AS NOTED BELOW:
This is looking south from Ditmas Avenue overpass to Newkirk Avenue bridge and station house beyond. This was 1964, when the Brighton station platforms were being lengthened to 10 IND car-lengths in anticipation of the Chrystie Street Connection. Newkirk Avenue station required some heavy-duty excavation at the north end to accommodate the longer platforms. They closed the local tracks through Newkirk and snaked the local tracks north and south through the express tracks, as the pictures show.
