ARRT'S ARRCHIVES

EAST   OF   EDGEWOOD
Revised April 11, 2003

THIS UNDERGRADE CROSSING EXISTED UNTIL THE RAIL-
ROAD WAS DOUBLE TRACKED AND ELECTRIFIED IN 1987.
THIS IS LOOKING EAST     -     IN THE DISTANCE ARE THE
SWITCHES TO THE NORTH SIDING AND PILGRIM STATE HOSPITAL.
THE OVERHEAD BRIDGE IS THE SAGTIKOS - SUNKEN MEADOW PARKWAY.

THE 1916 VALUATION PLAN SHOWS THE BRIDGE SPANNING SECATOGUE ROAD.

A RETAINING WALL WAS BUILT WHERE THE UNDERGRADE CROSSING WAS.

EDITORIAL

ARRT HAS FELT THAT THE UNDERGRADE CROSSING SHOULD HAVE BEEN RETAINED
AND WIDENED.   ARRT FEELS THAT WITH THE PENDING DEVELOPMENT OF THE PILGRIM
STATE HOSPITAL PROPERTY THAT AN UNDERGRADE CROSSING SHOULD AGAIN
BE PROVIDED TO RELIEVE TRAFFIC ON LONG ISLAND AVENUE - PINEAIRE DRIVE.
