C.I.S.H. HAD ITS OWN LOCOMOTIVE, AN EX-PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD
CLASS A3 0-4-0 SWITCHER (P.R.R. NUMBER 3008, BUILT JUNIATA DECEMBER
1905, CONSTRUCTION NUMBER 1401) NUMBERED FIRST "3" AND LATER "03".

OCCASIONALLY THE 03 TRAVELED TO MORRIS PARK SHOPS FOR REPAIRS AND/OR MAINTENANCE.
RICHIE HARRISON PHOTOGRAPHED THE 03 IN JAMAICA ON TRACK ELEVEN JUST EAST OF "JE" TOWER.

THERE WERE ALSO A FORMER L.I.R.R. COACH AND COMBINE.
IN THE 1950'S BILL SLADE CORRESPONDED WITH BILL RUGEN.
THIS IS FROM A LETTER ASKING ABOUT THE HOSPITAL CARS.

THE COACH WAS NUMBER 02 - BOB EMERY THOUGHT THIS WAS THE FORMER L.I.R.R. NUMBER 98

THE COMBINE WAS NUMBER 01 - IT WAS PHOTOGRAPHED AT ELIZABETHPORT NJ MAY 27, 1939. IT HAD BEEN REPAINTED GREEN AND WAS LATER AT THE U. S. ARMY'S CLAIBORNE & POLK RAILWAY IN LOUISIANA.

"REGULAR VISITING DAYS ARE TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS, SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS"

PASSENGER EXTRAS MIGHT HAVE BEEN RUN TO THE HOSPITAL OR REGULAR TRAINS COULD HAVE CARRIED A CAR OF VISITORS WHICH WAS LEFT AT CENTRAL ISLIP STATION TO BE PICKED UP BY THE HOSPITAL SWITCHER.   OR PASSENGERS MIGHT HAVE DETRAINED AT CENTRAL ISLIP STATION AND RIDDEN INTO THE HOSPITAL IN THEIR OWN CAR, THE 01/02 OR THEIR PREDECESSORS.   THE FIRST SCHEDULED TRAINS TO C. I. S. H. ARE SHOWN IN EMPLOYE TIME TABLE NUMBER 63 OF OCTOBER 16, 1911, NUMBERS 2220 AND 2229

THE C. I. STATE HOSPITAL TRAIN CREW:   GUS NEWMAN, ENGINEER;   FRANK "DUSTY" RHODES,
TRAINMAN;   BILL BLAKE, TRAINMAN;   WALTER WEBB, CONDUCTOR;   UNIDENTIFIED FIREMAN.

WALTER WEBB NO DOUBT HAD SENIORITY.

OCCASIONALLY ENGINE 03 WOULD BE SHOPPED AND A LARGER
LOCOMOTIVE BORROWED.   THIS IS D16sb NUMBER 228 AND CREW:
GUS NEWMAN, ENGINEER;   FRANK "DUSTY" RHODES, TRAINMAN;
BILL BLAKE, TRAINMAN;   WALTER WEBB, CONDUCTOR;   UNIDENTIFIED FIREMAN.

THIS WAS THE STATION IN THE 1920'S.

LATER THIS CONCRETE CURBED, ASPHALT PLATFORM WAS BUILT AT THE EAST SIDE OF CARLETON AVENUE.
THE TRACK AND BENCHES ARE LONG GONE BUT THE PLATFORM REMAINS TODAY.
ONE RAIL REMAINED VISIBLE UNTIL THE ROAD WAS WIDENED.

PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD E6s NUMBER 169 WAS PHOTOGRAPHED AT CARLETON AVENUE PROBABLY IN 1947.
