ATLANTIC AVENUE AT PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, EAST NEW YORK looking west circa 1895. NOTE MAIL CRANE FOR
EASTWARD TRAINS TO PICK UP MAIL WITHOUT STOPPING. Many of the buildings are still standing. ---->GO TO POSTAL HISTORY
The tracks were elevated from 1903 until the early 1940's when the tunnel opened.

INTERIOR OF 1892 FLATBUSH AVENUE STATION.


ELEVATED CONNECTION WITH FIFTH AVENUE EL WAS USED 1899-1904 THEN SERVED AS PART OF
TEMPORARY TERMINAL FOR STEAM TRAINS UNTIL FULL ELECTRIFICATION.


LATE 1905 VIEW - ELECTRIC TRAINS WERE ALREADY USING UNDERGROUND TRACKS OF NEW TERMINAL.


THE NEW FLATBUSH AVENUE TERMINAL STATION BUILDING OPENED IN 1907
AND IN THE EARLY 1940'S WAS COMPLETELY REFURBISHED INCLUDING SANDBLASTING OF THE EXTERIOR


WAITING ROOM FEATURED "ANTI PLUVIUS" SKYLIGHT


STILL THERE IN '78


TIMES PLAZA STATION OF POST OFFICE WAS IN NEW 1907 STATION ---->See also our POSTAL HISTORY Page
AND WAS REPLACED IN 1925 BY THE PRESENT BUILDING.
