ON NOVEMBER 21, 1930 THE SWITCH CONNECTING THE MIDDLE TRACK WITH MONTAUK BRANCH NUMBER ONE TRACK WAS CHANGED TO AN INTERLOCKED SWITCH CONTROLLED FROM "J" TOWER LEVER NUMBER 53.   TWO POSITION LIGHT SIGNALS ON THE BRIDGE AND AN OPPOSING LOW HOME SIGNAL WERE CONTROLLED BY LEVER NUMBER 54.

THE MIDDLE TRACK REFERRED TO IN GENERAL ORDERS 108-12 AND 113-11 WAS THE WESTBOUND MONTAUK DIVISION PASSENGER TRACK BETWEEN "J" AND "R" TOWERS. AT THE EAST END WAS AUTOMATIC SIGNAL S-88.   "J"   TRAFFIC LEVERS 55 AND 62 CONTROLLED THE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC BETWEEN "J" AND "R" TOWERS.
