THE   NEW   YORK   CONNECTING   RAILROAD   COMPANY
FN   CABIN - FN   TOWER - FREMONT   TOWER
THE   LONG   ISLAND   RAIL   ROAD   COMPANY


THE NEW YORK CONNECTING RAILROAD WAS BUILT IN 1916 AND 1917 AND
CONNECTED WITH THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD AT FREMONT STREET, GLENDALE.
FN CABIN CONTROLLED THE SWITCHES AND SIGNALS.




CENTRAL NEW ENGLAND RAILROAD 2-8-2 NUMBER 182 PASSING FN CABIN CIRCA 1920.

IN 1926 - 1927 THE NEW YORK CONNECTING RAILROAD AND THE BAY RIDGE
BRANCH WERE BEING ELECTRIFIED WITH 11000 VOLT AC CATENARY.


IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ELECTRIFICATION BRICK TOWERS WERE BUILT AT FN, NO AND NU.

ORIGINALLY THERE WAS A DOUBLE TRACK CONNECTION
WITH THE MONTAUK DIVISION AND FRESH POND YARD


AND THE JUNCTION WAS KNOWN AS "FRESH POND JUNCTION"


EVENTUALLY THE CONNECTION BECAME SINGLE TRACK
WITH AN INTERLOCKED SWITCH LEADING TO TWO TRACKS
AND A SECOND INTERLOCKED SWITCH LEADING TO THE EAST YARD

TOWER AT MANHATTAN BEACH JUNCTION THERE WERE FOUR TRACKS
WITH AUTOMATIC SIGNALS AND AN INTERLOCKING AT NO TOWER NEW LOTS.

THE NEW YORK CONNECTING RAILROAD BRIDGE OVER THE MONTAUK DIVISION.
AT THE FAR LEFT THERE IS A L.I.R.R. FREIGHT ON THE CONNECTING TRACK.
THE COLOR LIGHT SIGNAL ON A BRIDGE WAS CONTROLLED FROM POND TOWER.
