IN 1905 THE RAILROAD ACQUIRED THE RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR THE HI TENSION LINES AND GLEN-
DALE CUT - OFF.   THE PROPERTY ACQUIRED AS FAR SOUTH AS YELLOWSTONE AVE WAS SOLD
BY THE  MATAWOK  LAND  COMPANY  TO  THE  LIRR'S  STUYVESANT  REAL  ESTATE  IN   1905.

A   STATION,   "MATAWOK",   WAS   SHOWN   IN   EMPLOYE   TIME   TABLES   FROM
1910   UNTIL   MAY   25,   1913   (E.T.T.   NUMBER   69).       NO   TRAINS   ARE   SHOWN
STOPPING   THERE.         MATAWOK   APPEARS   ON   PUBLIC   TIME   TABLE   MAPS
  FROM   1908   UNTIL   AT   LEAST   1915,     BUT   NOT   IN   THE   STATION   LISTINGS.

THIS  CASH  FARE  RECEIPT  FROM  1910  SHOWS  MATAWOK.

OBTAINED   FROM   BK. SALES   ON   EBAY

WE IMAGINE THAT LIKE CREEDMOOR  (ALSO ON THIS TICKET)  WHICH ALSO HAD NO REGULAR PASSENGER SERVICE,   SPECIAL TRAINS WERE SOMETIMES RUN HERE FOR
WHICH THIS CASH FARE TICKET AND RECEIPT WERE USED.   AND/OR REGULAR ROCK-
AWAY BEACH DIVISION TRAINS MAY HAVE HAD AN ADDED STOP FROM TIME TO TIME.

COINCIDENTALLY   BROOKLYN   HILLS   STATION   HAD   JUST
BEEN   MOVED   FROM   MYRTLE   AVENUE   TO   JAMAICA   AVENUE.





THIS MAY 1, 1913 PHOTOGRAPH LOOKING EAST FROM TROTTING COURSE LANE CROSS-
ING SHOWS THE FORMER LOCATION OF MATAWOK STATION AND PERHAPS ITS REMAINS.




ON NOVEMBER 28, 1933 THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD GRANTED TO THE CITY OF NEW YORK
A PERPETUAL EASEMENT TO THE PROPERTY REQUIRED FOR THE INTERBOROUGH PARKWAY.


ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT "CHAINING" IN FEET SHOWS TROTTING COURSE LANE CENTER LINE AT 337+66, INTERBOROUGH PARKWAY CENTER LINE AT 341+69 AND MATAWOK STATION CENTER LINE AS 342+70.
THE RAILROAD PROPERTY CEDED TO THE CITY WAS 240 FEET WIDE AND INCLUDED
PART OF THE PROPERTY THAT HAD BEEN OCCUPIED BY MATAWOK STATION.



INTERBOROUGH   PARKWAY   WAS   BUILT   AND   OPENED   IN   1936.   THIS   JUNE   3,
1937   PHOTOGRAPH   LOOKS   EAST   FROM   TROTTING   COURSE   LANE   CROSSING

MATAWOK   STATION   WAS   NOT   LISTED   AGAIN   ON   THE   ROCKAWAY   BEACH   DIVISION.

IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT ONE OF THE STATIONS BURNED.


GRAND   STREET   STATION

GRAND STREET STATION WAS LOCATED ON THE MAIN LINE SOUTH OF WINFIELD JUNCTION
AND OPENED IN 1913,   FIRST APPEARING IN EMPLOYE TIME TABLE NUMBER 70 OF JULY 1.
IT SERVED BOTH THE MAIN LINE AND THE ROCKAWAY BEACH BRANCH.
